Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for 165 E-Class Coupes and Cabriolets from model years 2018 and 2019 because they may need new tires.
Mercedes tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that “the maximum permissible inflation pressure on the original equipment tires was marked incorrectly.” The issue affected just one batch of tires, limiting the number of impacted cars.
Most of those tires are likely already off the road. Tires have limited lifespans, and few 6-year-old cars still drive on the tires they wore when leaving the factory.
However, for safety reasons, dealers must remove any remaining faulty tires from circulation. They will inspect the cars and replace any original equipment tires found.
By law, dealers never charge for recall-related repairs.
Automakers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
