Mercedes-Benz has recalled just three vehicles – two GLC SUVs from model year 2024 and one 2024 S-Class – because their rear differentials might not be properly bolted to their rear axle carriers.
The defect can cause the cars to lose all drive power suddenly, Mercedes tells federal authorities. “The driver will not receive a warning due to the nature of the failure.”
Mercedes knows of no such incidents in the United States, but one overseas.
Dealers will replace the bolts to ensure the parts are properly connected. Dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Carmakers try to notify the owners of recalled vehicles, but those efforts aren’t always 100% effective. To check if your car has any outstanding recalls, try our easy VIN check tool in our recall center.
