Mercedes-Benz lifted the veil a bit on a concept that’s expected to make its formal debut next weekend at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The 10-word press release that accompanied these moody images revealed little about the mechanicals of this elegant Maybach-badged fastback that’s rumored to preview an upcoming production model we could see as early as next year. This Coupe Concept is nearly 20 feet long, which would make it nearly two feet longer than the current range-topping Mercedes-Maybach S600 ultra-luxury sedan.
Given the nature of this Maybach 2-door, we expect to see it powered by some form of the automaker’s 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 that makes 523 horses in the S600 paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Don’t be surprised if this striking Maybach Coupe Concept also features virtually every other premium mechanical and comfort and convenience touch in the extensive M-B catalog, from Magic Body Control air suspension and driver assists to superbly accommodating and supportive seats, exotic wood and a Burmester concert-grade audio package.
