The 2026 Toyota Corolla Hatchback starts at $25,775, so we can understand if your eyes pop out in cartoon fashion when we say the latest version will cost roughly $65,000. That’s because the 2026 Toyota GRMN Corolla is no ordinary Corolla.
Whereas the everyman hatchback version of the world’s best-selling model is known for its value, practicality, and easy driving manners, the GRMN Corolla’s mission is to dominate the track and deliver the highest thrills to a very limited number of drivers lucky enough to obtain one.
What Is the Toyota GRMN Corolla?
The 2026 Toyota GRMN Corolla builds off the GR Corolla, itself a gonzo version of the hatchback. The GR Corolla squeezes 300 horsepower out of a turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, has standard all-wheel drive (AWD), and the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or 8-speed automatic. The GR stands for Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division, and that high-performance version of the Corolla starts at a cool $41,115.
The brand calls the Toyota GRMN Corolla “the ultimate evolution of the GR Corolla” that is “engineered for maximum driver engagement.”
You might consider this the alter ego of the standard Corolla, one that Toyota proudly states was “Born on the Nürburgring, not in the boardroom.” In its news release on the model, Toyota emphasizes that the GRMN Corolla was developed via extensive testing on that famed German racetrack “under the direction of Morizo, the master driver alter ego of Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda.”
So what does the roughly $24,000 premium of the GRMN Corolla get you over the GR Corolla? To start, it brings enhanced aerodynamic bits, including a hood duct, fender ducts, front side spoilers, and rear wing. The GRMN Corolla is further optimized for racing duty thanks to revisions to its suspension tuning and electric power steering. Rubber is upgraded to Pilot Sport Cup 2 performance tires, mounted to 18-inch matte-bronze 10-spoke forged aluminum wheels. It wears exclusive Zero Gravity or Gravel paint.
There’s also addition via subtraction going on here, with the GRMN Corolla ditching the rear seats of the other Corolla models, including the GR Corolla. That means just the driver and one lucky passenger will get to experience the GRMN’s semi-bucket sport seats upholstered in black and red Brin Naub suede and synthetic leather.
GRMN Corolla Powertrain
You might think this even more special version of a special-version Corolla will bring more power. Yes and no. The 2026 Toyota GRMN Corolla makes 300 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque from its 1.6-liter turbo 3-cylinder engine. That’s the same horsepower as the standard GR Corolla and 7 lb-ft more torque.
Unlike the GR Corolla, there’s no option for an automatic here: a 6-speed manual is standard, and it has a rev-matching feature. So you might have to learn to drive stick to handle this, but at least you won’t have to heel and toe.
And learning to handle this thing is also part of the deal. With purchase, owners get a one-year driving program membership and expert performance-driving instruction, Toyota says. That’s above and beyond the complimentary one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association included for buyers of the standard GR Corolla.
The Price of Exclusivity
When it arrives in late summer, Toyota says the GRMN Corolla will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $64,360, and didn’t specify if that includes destination cost. So let’s just round this to $65,000. On paper, this might not seem to add up. After all, for the cost of the GRMN Corolla, you could nearly buy a GR Corolla and a standard Corolla Hatchback.
Call it the price of exclusivity. Toyota says only 730 GRMN Corolla models will be made for the entire world, primarily focusing on North America, Japan, and Australia. When it arrived for the 2023 model year, the GR Corolla itself was notorious for dealer markups due to high demand. Even at its lofty price point, we wouldn’t be surprised to see far more than 730 well-heeled drivers lining up to get a GRMN Corolla in their garage.
