Although a full detail download won’t happen until next week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the first teaser image and a few choice factoids about the new McLaren MP4-12C Spider have now been released by the factory. This open-top sibling to the existing MP4-12C Coupe will share the same basic MonoCell carbon fiber structure and composite bodywork but reportedly will be crowned with an innovative folding top mechanism. Like the upgraded Coupe, the new mid-engine Spider is fitted with McLaren’s 616-horsepower/3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that drives the rear wheels.
