Thanks to Mazda, 50 Americans who stepped up to help their neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic are about to be happy to own one what may be the most fun car on the market. Mazda is giving 50 100th Anniversary Special Edition MX-5 Miatas to local heroes.
The winners, drawn from fall nominations, include teachers, nurses, and small business owners providing protective equipment to health care workers, finding new ways to connect hospitalized patients with the families that couldn’t be by their side, and helping students reach their remote classes.
The 100th Anniversary Special Edition celebrates the automaker’s 100th birthday, not the model’s. It features a gorgeous snowflake white mica exterior, red soft top, and red leather upholstery with a unique logo on the headrests. Should you want your own, it retails for about $33,000. Our editors found it fun to drive, with go-kart-like cornering, a smooth transmission, and a ragtop you can still lower with one hand while sitting at a stoplight.
