Lucid Recalls Gravity SUVs Over Airbag Issue

Lucid Motors’ new Gravity electric SUV is new enough that it’s still a rare sight on American roads, but it has its first recall. That’s not unusual – new models often have new problems not discovered until a few hit the road.

In this case, Lucid tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that incorrect backrest covers on the front seats of 66 Gravity SUVs from model year 2026 may prevent side airbags from deploying properly.

“Some front seat backrest covers were mislabeled as left or right during the seat cover manufacturing process, causing some front seats to be assembled with incorrect seat backrest covers,” the company says.

Lucid will inspect the backrest covers and replace them if needed to correct the problem.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely get them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
