Electric car startup Lucid Motors has released teaser photos of its second product – a sleek 3-row SUV called the Gravity, planned for the 2024 model year.
Lucid is short on details and long on superlatives when talking about the Gravity. We’d love to give you specifications, price, and other details… but Lucid hasn’t given them to us.
The company has earned some credibility for its boasts – the 2022 Lucid Air is the longest-range electric vehicle on the market, traveling an EPA-certified 520 miles between charges. Its high-performance Air Sapphire boasts over 1,200 horsepower.
Lucid promises “a previously unattainable combination of supercar performance and seating for up to seven adults” with the Gravity.
It shares the Air’s face, with taller proportions. A horizontal light bar connects the headlights, while thin vertical daytime running lights are mounted low. The taillights share the same horizontal connection.
Built on the same platform as the Air, it features such a short trunk that, viewed from above, it looks more like a minivan than an SUV. But part of that long roof is an immense roofline spoiler.
Inside, Lucid will offer three seating configurations – for five, six, or seven adults in two or three rows. Concept drawings show a set of rear captain’s chairs that appear to steeply recline. They sit beneath an enormous glass canopy roof.
Lucid gave no performance details but promised “more range than any other EV on the market – other than its stablemate, Lucid Air.”
The company says, “Further information about the full Lucid Gravity lineup will be released in early 2023 when reservations open.”
