The 2025 Lucid Gravity will start at $81,550 (including a $1,650 destination charge), but only if you’re willing to wait for it.
The company posted a video to the social media site X (formerly known as Twitter) showing that production of the full-size crossover has begun. However, the first models built will be the highest-end trim, Grand Touring, with a starting price of $96,550.
Lucid will begin building the lower-priced Touring model in “late 2025,” the company says.
The company hasn’t revealed when customers who ordered the high-end trim can expect delivery. Early 2025 seems likely. Deliveries can begin several months after production starts, as automakers often keep the earliest models for quality testing and look to solve any issues they find before providing one to a customer.
What Is Lucid Motors?
Lucid is one of a series of electric vehicle (EV) startups that have appeared in recent years.
It has some impressive accomplishments to its young name — its Lucid Air luxury sedan has the longest EPA-certified range of any EV, at up to 520 miles. Its high-performance Air Sapphire is one of the quickest 4-door cars ever built, with a zero-to-60 mph time under 2 seconds.
Some EV-only startups founded around the same time have flamed out, with both Lordstown Motors and the second coming of Fisker declaring bankruptcy. Starting a new automaker is an astoundingly expensive endeavor that requires losing money for many years before making a profit.
But Lucid has the backing of Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, which may give it runway those competitors lacked.
What Is the Lucid Gravity?
The Gravity is Lucid’s second product after the Air. A 3-row full-size SUV with a projected range of 440 miles, it features curvy lines and a raised-minivan silhouette. Its interior is cavernous, with a flat floor and stadium-style seating.
The driver faces a large screen mounted high above a flat-top steering wheel so the driver’s view of it is never blocked. Its frunk (front trunk) doubles as a two-person seat when parked – perfect for watching the kids’ soccer games under the shade of the trunk lid.
