Lucid Drops Air Price, Simplifies Lineup for 2024

Putting a Lucid Air in your favorite parking spot will be easier in the 2024 model year. The California-based electric car startup has dropped the base price of its signature model – the one with the longest EPA-certified range of any current electric vehicle (EV.)

The new point of entry for the Air is $77,400, plus a $1,575 destination fee. That’s down from $82,400 for the 2023 model.

Four Trim Levels, New RWD Model

That price will get you the new Air Pure rear-wheel drive (RWD). With one electric motor driving the rear wheels, it puts out 430 horsepower. That’s more than enough for a luxury car, but 50 less than the Air Pure all-wheel drive (AWD), which has dropped from the lineup.

Buyers can now add optional features like massaging front seats and full leather upholstery even to the base model. Last year, shoppers had to step up to a higher trim level to get those.

The next step up, the Air Touring, sees its price drop more than $9,000, now starting at $85,900. But Lucid robs it of some features to get the price down. Formerly standard features like a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats are now part of an added-cost Comfort and Convenience package.

The high-end Air Grand Touring, at $125,600, comes to 2024 mostly unchanged, except that buyers can now delete the panoramic glass roof.

If you’re wondering whether to order the glass roof, the answer might come down to your height. Our tallest test drivers found it off-putting, as it creates some odd sightlines for drivers much over 6 feet. Our test drivers under 6 feet had no such complaints.

The Grand Touring Performance model “now exits production,” Lucid says. That leaves only the pulse-pounding Air Sapphire for buyers looking for a high-performance sedan. With its sub-two-second 0-60 mph time and 1,234 horsepower, it remains the quickest production sedan we’re aware of, out-accelerating even the Tesla Model S Plaid.

Lucid hasn’t named a price for the 2024 Air Sapphire, but last year’s model started at $249,000.
