Lincoln is recalling 11,560 2026-2027 Nautilus Hybrids and 63 2027 Lincoln Corsair Hybrids due to an electrical problem can cause them to shift into neutral unexpectedly while driving.
The Integrated Parking Module (IPM) may use an anti-rust oil that can degrade the coating on a printed circuit board. This can cause a drop in voltage on the rotary sensor.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “If the rotary sensor were to have a drop in voltage while in motion, the vehicle may experience an unexpected shift into Neutral while driving.” The report also says that the IPM supplier changed the anti-rust oil without notifying the automaker or conducting the proper tests.
Drivers should be on the lookout for a wrench-shaped malfunction indicator light illuminating on the display or a popup that reads, “Service Vehicle Soon” or “Shifting System Error.”
Ford Motor Co., under which Lincoln sits, is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this defect.
Owners can bring their Lincoln to a dealer to have the IPM replaced, free of charge.
