Lincoln Recalls 110,000 Aviators Over Rearview Camera

Lincoln has recalled 109,283 Aviator SUVs from model years 2020 through 2024 because their review cameras can flicker, shake, and scroll, making them almost useless.

Lincoln tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the cameras are “susceptible to electromagnetic interference from a customer mobile phone.” A phone placed in the center console while in use can interfere with a printed circuit board in the video circuit. That’s a natural place where many drivers might place their cell phones while answering a call on speaker or through the car’s phone interface.

Ford says it knows of no related injuries but “one report of minor property damage potentially related to this concern.”

Dealers will correct it by installing electromagnetic shielding. The company asks owners to avoid using their cell phones while reversing until dealers have completed the repair.

As with all recalls, the repair is free.

Many cars are recalled, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your car has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
