Lincoln Can Black Out Cars, Too — 2022 Aviator Gets Jet Package

The anti-chrome movement continues. But we have to admit, it looks pretty good here.

Lincoln has joined the ranks of automakers offering blacked-out special editions of their cars with the new 2022 Lincoln Aviator Jet Package.

It’s a trend many major automakers are embracing. Toyota calls them Nightshade Editions. At Nissan, they’re Midnight Editions. Hyundai just calls them Night Editions.

The basic idea is simple – remove all the chrome that once suggested luxury to American buyers and replace it with black accents that are either understated or menacing, depending on your point of view.  It’s unquestionably an elegant look on the Kia Telluride Nightfall. We’re a little less convinced by Darth Vader’s Prius.

The Aviator, though, makes it look good. The Jet Package features black-painted 22-inch wheels, a blacked-out Lincoln grille, black mirror caps, roof rails, and lower fascia, as well as body-colored lower cladding and wheel lip moldings.

Lincoln hasn’t revealed pricing yet. The Jet Package, Lincoln says, “will be available early next year.”

It’s available in four exterior colors — Pristine White, Infinite Black, Silver Radiance, and Burgundy Velvet.
