Lexus has recalled 4,374 LX 600 SUVs from model years 2025 and 2026 because of a potential transmission issue.
The problem can occur as part of a chain reaction within the transmission control system. All affected vehicles have linear solenoids, which are devices that convert electrical energy into mechanical power. This process controls gear shifting.
In a report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Lexus says that a solenoid failure may disrupt communication between the transmission and engine, resulting in the transmission over-revving in certain gears.
The report states that this could “result in damage to the transmission and a loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds,” which increases the risk of a crash. There is also a risk of fire if the damage causes a transmission fluid leak that comes into contact with an ignition source.
Lexus dealers will fix this issue by updating the Transmission Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software. They will complete this service free of charge.
Owners with affected vehicles will be notified via mail by April 19, 2026.
Millions of cars are recalled, sometimes more than once. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they may not reach everyone. To check whether your vehicle might be subject to a recall, use the easy tool at our recall center. All you need is your vehicle identification number (VIN), license plate, or year, make, and model of your car to get started.
