Lexus is readying a new crossover show car for a Paris Motor Show debut called the Lexus UX Concept. A product of the division’s European design studio, the Lexus UX is a sporty crossover SUV with coupe-inspired styling that would slot between the current RX and NX in production form. Such a vehicle would compete with the BMW X4 or X6, as well as the coupe versions of the Mercedes-Benz GLC and GLE.
The image accompanying the press release promises edgier styling from Toyota’s upscale division. The Lexus UX sports muscular fender flares, a sharply raked rear hatch, massive wheels and minimal chrome accents. According to Lexus, the UX has a “strongly differentiated identity meant to appeal to a progressive, urban audience living in a connected environment.” Along with promising “imaginative technologies for an immersive driver experience,” the Lexus UX will also boast traditional interior craftsmanship, meaning the requisite use of wood, leather and other upscale materials in the cabin.
In addition to bringing the Lexus UX Concept to Paris, Lexus will also show a refreshed version of the IS sedan and a new sport version of the NX compact crossover SUV.
