The 2025 Lexus TX enters its second year of filling a void in the luxury brand’s lineup for a spacious midsize 3-row luxury SUV. It provides adult-friendly accommodations no matter where you’re seated. This is a big deal for Lexus shoppers looking for additional seating flexibility but find the bulkier, truck-based LX and GX models too cumbersome and thirsty.
Based on the same mechanical structure underpinning the new Toyota Grand Highlander, the Lexus TX has room for seven or six people, depending on trim and model. Better still, there’s a large amount of space behind the third row even when every seat is occupied.
The TX comes standard with a 275-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which can be ordered with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). A hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain are in the TX 500h and TX 550h+, respectively.
The hybrid TX 500h produces 366 hp while returning 27 mpg in mixed city/highway driving. Under the hood of the plug-in hybrid Lexus TX 550h+ is a V6 engine and electric powertrain that churn out 404 hp and can travel 33 miles solely on battery power. Both hybrid models have standard all-wheel drive.

Passenger Room and Comfort
Room, glorious room! This should be the marketing angle used by Lexus when promoting the TX. Until now, the luxury brand has come up short in offering an SUV with three rows of adult-friendly seating. At long last, the TX solves this problem.
Legroom in the third row of the TX measures 33.5 inches, which is more than enough for an average-size adult to be comfortable. Further aiding comfort in the far back is enough room beneath the second row to wiggle your feet.
The Lexus TX 350 can be had with a second-row bench seat or dual captain’s chairs. The two hybrid models are available only with the captain’s chairs, which limits the seating capacity to six. Many SUV shoppers like how the captain’s seats allow for easier access to the third row. They can also be optioned with a clever removable mini center console between them.
Features and Tech
No surprise, Lexus loads the TX with a ton of tech. A 14-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard and is flanked by a now standard-across-the-board 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster in front of the driver. Moving into the higher trim levels makes other niceties available, including a digital rearview mirror, a head-up display, and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system.
Great, but what do you get without ticking option boxes?
Among the plentiful standard features on the TX 350 are wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless device charging, navigation, a digital smartphone key, multiple USB outlets, voice commands, navigation, and 4G Wi-Fi with a 30-day free subscription.
All models also come with a robust suite of active safety and driver assist features called Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. Highlights include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, lane-tracing assist, lane-departure warning with steering assist, safe exit warning, and road-sign assist.
Materials and Design
Lexus has an enviable (and deserved) reputation for crafting interiors that are quiet, comfortable, and bristling with top-quality trim. This holds true for the TX. The base TX 350 comes with NuLuxe faux leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, manual rear sunshades, heated front seats, and a power liftgate.
The midrange Premium trim adds heated and ventilated front seats, a moonroof, and power-folding third row. One step higher, the Luxury trim features semi-aniline leather upholstery, additional power adjustments for the driver’s seat, and an upgraded ambient lighting system. New for 2025 is the F Sport package that, in addition to granting improved handling, adds an exclusive steering wheel, a panoramic glass roof, second-row captain’s chairs, a power-folding third row, and ventilated front seats.
The hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants build upon the content found in the TX 350 Luxury with added features like heated and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs and higher-quality leather upholstery.
Cargo Room and Flexibility
In the TX, Lexus has beautifully balanced three rows of adult-friendly SUV seating with a cargo area roomy enough to hold several bags of luggage.
Behind the third row is 20.2 cubic feet of volume, a sizable amount even among spacious midsize SUVs. Fold the rear seats down, and the space expands to more than 57 cubic feet. With the second and third rows folded, there’s a yawning 97 cubic feet of volume in the back. If that’s not enough, you might consider a Winnebago.
