Kia Recalls Some Sportage SUVs Over Blank Screens

Kia has recalled 5,046 Sportage SUVs from model years 2024-2025 and Sportage Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) SUVs from model years 2023-2025 because their driver’s instrument screens can go blank.

All of the recalled vehicles are X-Line models equipped with a Genuine Kia tow hitch.

The company tells federal safety officials that the software controlling the tow hitch can interfere with the software controlling the instrument screen, causing it to reboot while driving.

Dealers will replace the tow hitch control module with an improved version to fix the problem.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.

Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
