Kia Recalls EV9 Over Remote Parking Problem

The 2024 Kia EV9 seen from a front quarter angle

Kia has issued a recall for 12,400 EV9 SUVs from model year 2024 because their remote parking features may not work as expected. The recall covers the Land and GT-Line trim levels with Remote Smart Parking Assist.

These SUVs have a remote parking feature that lets the driver get out and use buttons on the keyfob to park the car. However, Kia says that due to a software error, the cars may not stop at the correct distance when using the feature.

Kia discovered the problem when an EV9 in South Korea collided with a parked car while remote parking.

Dealers will fix the problem with a software update. The cars cannot receive over-the-air updates, so owners must bring them into a dealership to have them installed.

By law, recall repairs are free. Many cars are recalled, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your car has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
