Kia recalled 39,536 Sorento SUVs from model years 2021-2023 because a wiring harness in their heating and cooling systems can overheat, creating a fire risk.
The company tells federal safety officials that a supplier used wire of a thinner gauge than planned in some HVAC blower motors. This can lead to heat buildup and trigger a fire.
Dealers will replace the wiring harness with one from a different supplier to fix the problem. By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
