The Kia K5 was all-new for the 2021 model year and instantly became one of the best-looking, roomiest midsize sedans on the market. It currently sits third in our list of the best midsize cars and carries a lower price than some lower-ranked cars.
With that in mind, the Korean automaker hasn’t seen the need to make big changes. For 2022, the K5 will get a small price increase, a few tweaks to the available options, and a new premium package for its all-wheel-drive (AWD) GT-Line model.
The price bump is small. The base-model LX sees just a $100 price increase, while the top-of-the-line GT model’s sticker price has gone up by $500.
You’ll have to look closely to tell a 2022 K5 from a 2021 K5. The only obvious change is Kia’s new logo. GT-Line, EX, and GT models get a new surround-view monitor and a standard navigation system.
The GT-Line AWD model is available with a new premium package. It adds a panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, LED projection headlights, Kia’s Highway Driving Assist lane-keeping system, and navigation-based smart cruise control that anticipates curves and adjusts speed accordingly.
The changes are quite minor. When a new model year begins, dealers are often willing to accept a lower price for cars from the outgoing model year still on their lots. With so little difference between the 2021 and 2022 models, K5 shoppers might want to locate a 2021 and attempt to negotiate a lower price on one.
