Jeep recalled 641 Wranglers and Gladiators from the 2026 model year due to an issue that could cause the wheels to crack.
In a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report, Jeep says the steel wheels on affected vehicles may have been manufactured with materials thinner than required specifications. Of the 641 vehicles recalled, 606 are Wranglers and 35 are Gladiators.
According to the filing, if the material is too thin, the inner metal wheel can crack or separate. There is no warning for this defect, so if it occurs while the vehicle is in motion, it could increase the risk of a crash. Jeep officials say they are unaware of any crashes or injuries related to the problem.
Owners with affected vehicles will be notified around Sept. 4. You can take your vehicle to any Jeep dealership to have the issue fixed at no cost to you. Technicians will replace the steel wheel and the valve stem. Although the recall does not involve the valve stem, dealers often replace it when installing a new wheel.
