Nissan’s Infiniti luxury brand has been plotting a makeover.
The company’s current lineup includes some well-liked cars and SUVs, but they’re decidedly dated. Our editors rate the QX50, QX55, and QX60 SUVs all around four out of five stars for 2023. But none sit in the top 10 of any of our luxury SUV rankings. That’s due, in part, because their designs have aged. The luxury arms of most automakers have brought out a steady drumbeat of interesting hybrids and electric cars in recent years. Infiniti dealers have been, comparatively, left behind.
That’s about to change. Infiniti today announced plans to unveil “a dramatic concept vehicle reveal that boldly signals the evolution of INFINITI design.” Called the QX Monograph Concept, it will appear at next week’s Pebble Beach Automotive Week – an annual gathering of enthusiasts and lovely high-end cars from both past and present.
We don’t know much about the Monograph yet. Infiniti’s press release was accompanied by a photograph that doesn’t reveal much. It shows the brand’s new three-dimensional infinite road logo on a black grille made of diagonal hashmark lines rising to a peak just below hood height.
The QX moniker suggests an SUV. The “concept” description means the Monograph won’t be a production car. Instead, it will be a study meant to show the direction designers intend to take with future designs. The brand recently previewed a makeover complete with a new look for future dealerships and even a signature scent. Executives reportedly told dealers to expect four new or redesigned models, including two electric vehicles, by the end of 2027.
