Infiniti confirmed at Auto China 2014 in that the Q50 Eau Rouge Concept has been elevated from a pure one-off to a formal engineering study. At this point, a running prototype has begun an intensive track testing. While the car’s 560-horsepower/3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, new 7-speed sequential automated manual transmission and all-wheel drive package are  set, Infiniti is working on aero tweaks for the Q50 Eau Rouge’s more aggressive carbon fiber-enhanced bodywork as well as refining its underbody fairings. A new rear-axle design and a final suspension setup also are in process, with the latter possibly adopting a fully computer-controlled system.

"Taking the decision to build and develop a prototype of the Q50 Eau Rouge concept following the positive response we received in Detroit and Geneva, was a logical next step for us in our evaluation process," said Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company Limited. "Having a four-time world champion like Sebastian Vettel take an active part in the testing program around the prototype ensures that we will meet the level of performance criteria we desire for an Infiniti high-performance sport sedan." We should know soon if the Q50 Eau Rouge gets the nod for limited production.
