Inspired by racing and ready to roll into showrooms within the next year in some world markets, the first of Hyundai’s new family of high-performance N models makes its global debut in Paris. Based on a 3-door hatch version of the next-gen i30 also being unveiled in the City of Lights, the RN30 Concept shares the platform basics of the compact i30 line but amps up the visual edge with more aggressive lower body design and boasts a unique set of mechanical enhancements.
Although still holding back on all powertrain details, we do know this collaborative effort between Hyundai Motorsport, Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center and Hyundai Motor’s Performance Development & High Performance Vehicle Division will pack a seriously formidable punch. Hyundai has confirmed the U.S. will get N models at some point, however, our sources indicate that we won’t be seeing them for at least another year and perhaps longer and that, as our first N-spec car may well not be based on the new i30 Hatch/2018 Elantra GT.
