Hyundai Recalls Ioniq 5 Seat Belts

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 seen from head on

Hyundai recalled 1,535 Ioniq 5 SUVs from the 2025 model year due to a problem with their seat belts.

Seat belts function thanks to retractors — devices that cinch the belt tight in an accident. Hyundai tells federal safety officials that retractors for some Ioniq 5 front seats “might have been incorrectly installed during a plant rework.” They might not function as designed.

The company knows of no accidents or injuries; however, there have been at least five reports of incorrectly installed seat belts.

Dealers will inspect the retractors and reinstall them if necessary.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.

Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
