Update: You can now read our first review of the 2018 Hyundai Kona
New teaser images of the new Hyundai Kona subcompact crossover SUV have been released along with a few additional facts prior to the vehicle’s reveal slated for later this month. As hinted at in the earlier Kona teaser shot, Hyundai’s upcoming 5-passenger mini-hauler will embrace the automaker’s latest design cues, matching a cascading grille with aggressively angular bodywork and a relatively wide track. The latest photos further indicate the Kona will feature bold, LED-infused lighting at both ends as well as protective cladding on its fenders and around the lower body perimeter.

While still holding back powertrain details, Hyundai said the Kona will establish new benchmarks for interior volume and versatility in the super-competitive B-segment that will see it square off against rivals like the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, Nissan Juke and Toyota C-HR along with the upcoming Ford EcoSport. It further confirmed the Kona will be the first to offer a new head-up display that projects an 8-inch image with best-in-class brightness as part of its selection of advanced tech and driver assists. Although the Kona will launch in certain markets later this year, our sources indicate it probably won’t arrive in showrooms here until early in 2018 as an early 2019 model.
