Honda Recalls 720,000 Cars Over Fuel Pump Leaks

2025 Honda Civic Sedan Sport Touring Hybrid

Honda will recall approximately 720,000 vehicles in the U.S. because their fuel pumps can leak, the automaker announced Tuesday.

The federal government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) usually announces vehicle recalls, but Honda has told the press about this one before the agency publishes it.

The recall applies to some, but not all, examples of the:

“Due to a defective high-pressure fuel pump core, cracks may form inside the fuel pump. During vehicle operation, these cracks can grow, leading to possible fuel leaks; fuel smell while idling or driving; and the risk of fire, crash, or injury,” the company says.

Dealers will inspect fuel pumps and replace any suspect parts.

Recall repairs are always free.

Carmakers try to notify the owners of recalled vehicles, but those efforts aren’t always 100% effective. To check if your car is part of a recall, try our easy VIN check tool in our recall center.
