Setting the stage for its arrival in showrooms sometime in 2017, the Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype will bow at the Geneva Auto Show. Honda offered no tech details about the production version of this new 5-door which will be built at the automaker’s Swindon plant in Britain and also sold here in the U.S. However, this image indicates the newest member of the Civic family will share a good deal of the edgy styling themes seen in the Sedan and Coupe.

Judging from this tail-on view, what will arguably be the most practical Civic variant also could arrive with a few surprises. The aggressive fascia contours and a diffuser with dual center exhaust outlets on the Hatchback Concept are remarkably similar to those seen on heavily disguised versions of the upcoming Type-R that will reign as the ultimate hard-core Civic.
