Honda, Acura Recall 260,000 Cars Over Brake Pedal Problem

Honda and its Acura luxury division have recalled 259,033 vehicles because their brake pedals can shift out of position, compromising drivers’ ability to slow the cars.

Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:

The company tells federal safety regulators that, “During production, the brake pedal pivot pin was not staked, which may allow the pedal to shift out of position.” A supplier moved production from one factory to another and, in the process, skipped a step.

The company is not aware of any injuries or accidents related to the problem, but has received at least three warranty claims.

Dealers will replace the brake pedal assembly to fix the problem.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
