GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system is available so far only on Cadillac models. But, for the 2022 model year, it migrates to other parts of the automaker’s lineup. Super Cruise will appear on most Cadillacs and many non-Cadillac models for 2022, from the diminutive Chevy Bolt SUV to the upcoming Hummer electric pickup. That list, as of this morning, now includes GMC’s full-size pickup.
The top-of-the-line GMC Sierra Denali will get Super Cruise, with towing capability. But, the option will not appear until late in the model year.
Super Cruise supports lane changes. The driver simply taps the turn signal, causing the vehicle to scan the designated lane for an opening and move over when the system finds it safe to do so. How that system will accommodate towing trailers of varying sizes isn’t yet clear, nor is the price of the Super Cruise option. Cadillac currently charges about $2,500 for the feature.
