What are you going to do in your car when your car drives itself? General Motors has an idea – play Red Dead Redemption III.
Ok, there’s no RDRIII yet, but this is a concept for a future car, so we’ll pretend.
The company released a sketch of a theoretical future interior design for the day when autonomous cars have taken over the roadway. It lacks a steering wheel, pedals, or any other interface with which to control the car directly. In its place, the car features a dashboard with a deep parcel shelf, and a wide and low viewscreen occupants could use to play video games while the car drives them to work.
A screen between the two seats, oriented in portrait mode, presumably controls destination and climate functions. The sketch is for a 2-seater, with expansive legroom.
Today, a handful of cars, like the Tesla Model S, offer in-car gaming. But it typically functions only when the vehicle is parked.
