General Motors has recalled 1,191 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV electric trucks from model year 2026 because a light that warns of a malfunction in their stability control systems may not function.
The company tells federal safety regulators that, in the event of a malfunction, the light will illuminate once. But if the driver turns the truck off, it will not illuminate again, even though the malfunction is still present. That could leave drivers unaware of a problem.
GM can fix it with a software update. Some of these vehicles receive updates over the air, but owners will need to bring others into the dealership to have the patch installed. Look for a notice in the mail telling you whether that’s you.
