Buyers of most 2014 Buick, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles will be getting a bit more for their money thanks to a new scheduled maintenance plan that will provide no-charge coverage on select scheduled services for two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. General Motors Chairman and CEO, Dan Akerson, announced the revised program at GM’s 2013 annual stockholders meeting, noting, "This new plan will kick off our customers’ ownership experience on the right foot and keep our strong sales momentum going."

Most 2014 Chevrolet, Buick and GMC models will be eligible to receive an oil and filter change, four-wheel tire rotation, and a 27-point vehicle inspection based on what’s called for in the vehicle owner’s manual maintenance schedule and oil-life monitoring system. The new GM program will cover up to four service visits during the 24-month period, and is fully transferrable to subsequent owners. It also will be applicable to any individual who has already purchased or leased a qualifying vehicle. The sole exceptions involve oil changes on certain alternative-fuel vehicles and tire rotations on some performance models when those services are not recommended.

Why is Cadillac so obviously missing from the list? Starting in 2011, owners of vehicles from GM’s luxury division have been covered by the Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance Program, which covers all of the above points and more for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.
