A new app introduced by Cox Automotive called Dojo can track your good driving habits and reward them with points for safety. Developed through an internal idea incubator at the parent of Kelley Blue Book, the free Dojo iOS app accesses a user’s mobile phone to monitor key driving behaviors and gives users a score. The more safely Dojo users drive and the more they improve their skills, the higher their overall score, which increases chances for rewards.
“With Dojo, we are committed to making the roads safer by inspiring motorists to drive differently,” said David Liniado, vice president of adjacent growth for Cox Automotive and responsible for leading the firm’s new ventures. “We created Dojo because we were frustrated with the fact that even with all the modern bells and whistles that make cars safe, millions of unnecessary accidents still happen. We want Dojo to help bring awareness, education and positive reinforcement to the way we all drive.”
The Dojo program uses inputs from a phone’s accelerometer, gyroscope and GPS to gauge driver behavior, including vehicle speed, braking forces, phone use, lane discipline, length of time driving and time of day. Following each trip, a score is assigned based on the driver’s actions and the app can show on a map when and where any driving infractions occurred, so users can understand their scores and look for ways to improve their driving habits.
Dojo can be used to invite friends and family to see who the better driver is. Points earned for good driving accumulate over time and can be redeemed from the user’s phone for merchandise, gift cards, sweepstakes entries and even charity donations, courtesy of Dojo rewards partner mPLUS rewards.
Available now in the app store, Dojo is free for iOS users to download and use by visiting https://appsto.re/us/mXJMcb.i.
