  • Genesis won’t sell the Electrified G80 in the U.S. for the 2025 or 2026 model year
  • Dealers still have some 2024 models on sales lots

Genesis will not sell its Electrified G80 sedan in the U.S. for the 2025 or 2026 model year.

The car disappeared from the Genesis website without a comment from the company.

The company later sent identical statements to several media outlets noting that the 2024 Electrified G80 was the car’s final model year for the U.S. market. Dealers still have some 2024 models on sales lots.

The company released an updated version of the car for its home market for the 2025 model year, but never brought it to the U.S.

Our editors are fans of its gas-powered G80 sibling and found the electric version “a fine midsize luxury sedan.” But it is a gas-powered platform adapted to run on electricity, not a car built from the ground up as an electric vehicle (EV). With a somewhat limited range of up to 282 miles, it’s less advanced than newer EV-only designs.

Genesis sold fewer than 400 copies in the U.S. last year. For comparison, in an average month, Tesla sells about 600 units of its slowest-selling car, the Model S.

Dealers sometimes accept a lower offer for a model after automakers have announced the end of its run. They still have some leftover 2024 Electrified G80 sedans on lots. They might make an attractive buy for shoppers looking for a luxury electric car at a slightly lower price.
