- Genesis Mint is a 2-door, 2-passenger electric car
- Aimed at bustling urban environments like New York City
- Small footprint and minimalistic design
- All-electric powertrain estimated at 200 miles of range
During an impromptu fashion show under the giant Vessel structure at New York’s trendy new Hudson Yards, Genesis unveiled the Mint all-electric concept car the night before it takes the stage at the New York International Auto Show. Befitting its “Small Car, Big Apple” theme, Genesis says the Mint is the kind of car that’s perfect for a bustling environment like Manhattan.
The Mint is a small, 2-door, 2-passenger electric car that “introduces the new typology of the premium city car as an accessory for the modern, urban lifestyle,” according to Genesis, the luxury brand of Hyundai.
Minimalistic design
The Genesis Mint concept is the fruit of a design collaboration from studios in Germany, California, and South Korea. The goal was for a tidy, minimalistic yet luxurious and stylish city “runabout.” The 2-passenger interior is simple yet elegant, with a bench seat and a notable absence of much else beyond a steering wheel and lots of leather. Even the infotainment screen is imbedded in the center of the steering wheel, which is also surrounded by six small graphics screens.
Instead of a trunk, the Genesis Mint has a small parcel shelf that is accessed by scissor-style swing-up panels. One particularly cool feature is the seat and steering wheel’s ability to swivel to allow easier passenger entry and exit.

All-electric powertrain
Since the Mint is concept car, you won’t be able to go out and buy this tomorrow. It simply points in a potential direction for the Genesis brand.
And while specifics are hazy, Genesis says the Mint’s battery pack and electric powertrain would give it 200 miles of range, and that it features 350 KW fast-charging.
