Genesis, the luxury marque of Hyundai, has a small lineup of three electric cars that have been well-received by car critics. The company has rolled them out to dealerships slowly, starting with just a few U.S. states.
Shoppers can now buy Genesis vehicles in more than half the country. Genesis bumped the list up to 33 states this week.
Car shoppers in Arkansas, Hawaii, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Tennessee can now purchase Genesis EVs.
The lineup includes two electrified versions of gas-powered cars. The Electrified GV70 is a battery-powered version of the excellent GV70 SUV, our Best Buy Award winner among compact luxury SUVs. It boasts a range of up to 236 miles.
The Electrified G80 is – you’re figuring this system out, aren’t you? It’s an electric version of the well-reviewed G80 luxury sedan, with a range of up to 282 miles.
A third model, the GV60, has no gas-powered counterpart. It’s compact and cute, with some design flourishes like a crystal sphere for a shifter and some high-tech features like facial recognition technology that unlocks the car for its owner. Our test driver found it “cartoonishly fast” in its top-of-the-line variant.
Unfortunately, none of the three are eligible for federal EV tax credits, as they’re all built outside North America. Genesis plans to produce EVs in Alabama once a factory there opens.
With the new states added to the list, shoppers can now buy or order all three Genesis EV models from dealerships in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, Oklahoma, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
