Automakers are changing their plans quickly as tariffs and the looming end of the $7,500 electric vehicle (EV) tax credit reshape the car market.
Several recently dialed back plans for more EVs. Now, General Motors is reportedly dialing up production of gas-powered SUVs.
Car and Driver reports that Chevrolet has reversed plans to cancel the gas-powered Chevy Blazer and Cadillac XT5.
Citing an unnamed company spokesperson, C&D reports that the pair “will live on for the 2026 model year.”
The company had planned to convert the Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, factory where the Blazer is built into an EV facility. We’ve reached out to ask whether the Blazer’s stay of execution means any changes to the company’s EV lineup, and will update this story when we hear back.
