The 2021 Hyundai Palisade is a midsize 3-row SUV with space for eight people and it shares most of its underpinnings (structure, engine, and many features) with its corporate sibling, the Kia Telluride. While it has a more striking design than the Kia Telluride, the Palisade also offers plenty of comfort features, driving capability, and refined touches both inside and out.
For 2021 the Palisade gets a new top-level option: The Palisade Calligraphy which includes some key features. Interestingly enough, you can build out a Telluride to be more expensive than the Palisade by nearly $4,000. With all the bells and whistles a fully-loaded Palisade will run you $49,960, plus $1,185 delivery, for an out-the-door price of $51,145. Here is an overview of what you get:
- All-wheel drive: $1,700 The Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy comes in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
- Head-up display (HUD) and 360-degree camera system: Included in the price, and part of the available Limited package.
- Roof rack cross rails: $315.
- Mudguards and rear bumper applique: $195.
- Cargo package, cargo net, and cargo tray: $430.
- Wheel locks: $65
- First Aid kit: $30
- Tow hitch with 4-pin wiring: $475 allows you to tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Here are the highlights of a fully-loaded 2021 Hyundai Palisade:
Powered Seating and Cargo with Seating for 7
Two simple release buttons make moving into and out of the third row a breeze when you opt for the 7-passenger configuration. No more hucking heavy seats and levers around. The third row also has power-adjustable seats. With the push of a button they can be lowered or raised for moments when you need to pack more gear into the rear of the Palisade.
The Palisade in base SE trim comes with a second-row bench and seating for eight. One step higher, the SEL trim comes standard with dual second-row captain’s chairs, though the bench can be added as a no-cost option.
All the Features of the Limited, Plus
The Limited trim used to be the top option for the Palisade, but for 2021 Hyundai has packaged all its features (and more) into the Calligraphy. The Limited gets everything from an upgraded Harmon-Kardon 12-speaker/360-watt surround sound system, to a 12.3-inch digital driver information display and head-up display.
You also get 64-color ambient cabin lighting, ventilated front seats, and second-row captain’s chairs. Additionally, you also get adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane following assistance, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and park distance warning. Also included in the suite of features are driver attention warning, safe exit assist, highway drive assist (which reads speed signs and slows your cruise control to the appropriate speed), trailer sway control, as well as blind-spot monitoring.
The Calligraphy package adds 20-inch alloy wheels, leather-covered door panels, a simulated suede headliner, and a leather-covered steering wheel. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the entire Palisade line and you can connect multiple devices (up to two).
Driver Talk
This feature feeds the driver’s voice to the rear speakers so those in the back can clearly hear you. There’s a Quiet Mode which allows you to shut speakers off at the back of the vehicle, all while keeping your chosen audio source at a low volume at the front.
