BMW announced a styling refresh and interior makeover for its i4 electric sedan last spring but kept price and range details close to the vest. We can now report that the price tag will see a mild increase for 2025. Range figures will change slightly, though they’re not likely to change many shoppers’ minds.
The makeover slightly toned down the car’s dramatic looks, with less emphasis on the big false grille and new vertical LED headlights. It also removed buttons from the interior, routing more controls through touchscreens and voice commands.
The car sees no mechanical updates. But range figures have gone up for some models and down for others. When range changes without any new components, the change tends to come thanks to new software. But BMW hasn’t explained the new figures.
The eDrive40 model, with a single motor on the rear axle for rear-wheel drive, was rated for between 283 and 301 miles for the 2024 model, depending on which options buyers choose. It sees a boost to between 295 and 318.
The all-wheel-drive xDrive40 model, however, loses a few miles. It was rated for between 279 and 307 in 2024. For 2025, that falls to between 268 and 287. The high-performance M50 edition sees no change, still good for between 227 and 267 miles.
BMW also sells a base eDrive35 model but hasn’t released details on that one for 2025. We’ve reached out to ask whether it’s being discontinued and will update this story when we hear back.
