Ford Will Sell EVs at all Dealerships

Ford will sell electric vehicles (EVs) at all dealerships beginning July 1. The move comes less than two years after the automaker launched a complex certification process that gave EVs only to dealerships that met certain criteria.

The program required dealers to install EV charging equipment and commit to selling EVs at no-haggle prices. Almost two-thirds of Ford dealers initially agreed. But, industry publication Automotive News reports, “The program elicited widespread pushback from state dealer associations, as well as a number of lawsuits from dealers who argued it was illegal for Ford to withhold some of its vehicles from stores that did not sign up.”

Not every Ford dealer will have EVs on the lot immediately. AN reports that dealerships will still have to obtain certain training and “spend a minimal amount of money on two Level 2 chargers.”

But it should soon be possible to buy an EV from any Ford dealership in the country later this year.
