Ford Motor Company is recalling 11,431 vehicles due to a potential rear driveshaft failure. The following vehicles are affected:
- 2025-2026 Ford F-250 SD
- 2025-2026 Ford F-350 SD
A Ford report indicates that some vehicles were built with a driveshaft that could separate at the friction weld because the weld is not strong enough.
This poses a greater risk of a crash, and Ford notes that “the customer may experience a loud popping noise and significant noise, vibration, or harshness which may alert them to a driveshaft separation.”
Ford is aware of six warranty claims, none of which are related to this recall, and no accidents or injuries are associated with it.
Ford says dealers will check vehicles against a list of suspect driveshaft serial numbers to see whether the rear driveshaft weld is faulty. If it is, they will replace the driveshaft at no cost to the owner.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified beginning March 30, 2026.
Automakers do their best to notify vehicle owners affected by a recall, but they may not reach everyone. To find out if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls, check the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
