Ford recalled 212 Transit vans from model years 2023-2024 because of a mismatch in parts that, the company says, “can cause a loss of brake function, loss of steering control, or damage to tires.”
The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that some dealers mistakenly used parts intended for the short-lived Transit Trail van on some Transit vans. Some vans may have incorrect tires and an incorrect steering coupler cover.
That can cause interference, damaging the tires and degrading braking and steering performance.
Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting the vans and, if necessary, removing the steering coupler cover and replacing the tires and tire pressure labels.
The company says it knows of no accidents or injuries related to the issue.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
