Ford has recalled 291,901 heavy duty trucks because their rearview cameras may not display a usable image in some conditions. All of the recalled trucks are equipped with the optional 360-degree camera view system.
Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2020-2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty
- 2020-2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty
- 2020-2022 Ford F-450 Super Duty
Ford tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that, “When one or more cameras are exposed to significantly different light than other cameras, the system’s automatic exposure compensation, which attempts to balance the overall scene, may cause the camera(s) image to appear severely underexposed or overexposed.”
Dealers will update the image processing software to fix the problem.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
