Ford has recalled 63,898 Maverick pickups from model year 2025 because a light that indicates whether their passenger airbags are working can be dislodged, making it impossible for drivers to see.
Passenger’s side airbags turn on or off based on whether the front passenger’s seat is in use.
Ford tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a feature designed to hold the light in place on the instrument panel is “not stiff enough.” The light can fall out of alignment, leaving drivers unable to tell whether the airbag is active.
Dealers will install a retaining clip behind the instrument panel to hold the light in place.
Recall repairs are always free.
Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the easy VIN tool at our recall center to find out if your car is one of them.
