Ford and its Lincoln luxury arm issued a recall for 43,438 hybrid SUVs because they may not produce a required pedestrian warning sound at low speeds.
Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2025 Ford Explorer
- 2024-2026 Lincoln Nautilus
Most of the Explorer models recalled are in the hands of police departments. The company tells federal safety officials that a software error can prevent the cars from emitting the required sound.
Drivers may see a warning message in the instrument cluster reading, “Pedestrian Sounder Fault. Service Now.”
Dealers will update software to fix the problem.
