Ford recalled 64,938 Flex SUVs from model years 2017-2019 because the trim around their doors can fall off and become a road hazard.
Car designers letter the pillars that hold up a car’s roof from front to back. Ford tells federal safety officials that plastic trim on the B-pillar — the one separating the front and rear doors — can fall off the Flex. Owners might notice it separating or hear a rattling noise as the problem develops.
The company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem.
Dealers will inspect the trim and replace or reattach it to fix the problem.
