Ford has recalled just six F-150 pickups from model years 2022-2023 because their electronic stability control (ESC) functions may not activate when needed.
The trucks’ ESC program may remain in off-road mode with reduced stability control even after owners restart them.
Ford recalled about 6,500 trucks over the same issue in 2023, fixing them with a software update. However, the company has since learned that the process dealers used to update software could sometimes fail but report success. Ford says it can now identify which trucks received an unsuccessful update and has a new system in place to prevent failures from happening again.
Dealers will fix those trucks by reinstalling the same software, ensuring that the upload succeeds this time.
