Ford has issued a recall for 56,473 hybrid F-150 pickup trucks from model year 2025 because they may not chime to warn the driver of an unbuckled seat belt.

The company tells federal safety officials, “The start-of-trip seat belt chime may not play from the Audio Head Unit (AHU) at vehicle startup if the 12-volt battery is at a low state of charge.” Ford discovered the problem when an employee reported it in their new vehicle.

According to the filing, the defect only affects F-150 trucks equipped with the 3.5-liter PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 powertrain, which is available exclusively in SuperCrew 4×4 models of the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims.

Dealers will fix the problem with a software update. By law, they never charge for recall repairs.
