Ford has recalled 103,174 F-150 pickups from model years 2023-2025 because their rear axle hub bolts can break. That can leave the trucks without power and able to roll in Park mode.
All of the recalled trucks have the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle with a 3/4 float axle design.
Ford tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the bolts can break due to fatigue. That may not result in an instant problem. But, over time, it can wear down the hub splines and axle shaft spines. Left untreated, that will stop all torque transfer to the axle.
Dealers will replace the rear axle shaft assemblies to fix the problem.
